At Liscio Dental, we strive to provide biocompatible solutions to improve the health and appearance of your smile. We offer a variety of treatments to reinstate the health, function, and appearance of your tooth without the use of any metals.
What are Metal-Free Restorations?
Metal has been the go-to material in dentistry for decades because it is affordable, durable, and effective. Although the American Dental Association deems metal restorations safe, it is natural to be concerned about using them for your oral health needs. Now, you can enjoy a safer alternative using ceramic, zirconia, or composite resin when needing:
- Dental fillings
- Dental Crowns
- Inlays or Onlays
We customize each type of restoration to match the appearance of your natural teeth to allow it to blend in seamlessly when you smile.
Benefits of Metal-Free Restorations
While they are not made from metal, tooth-colored restorations provide exceptional benefits to invest in your self-esteem and oral health, including:
- Enjoy improved confidence knowing your restoration looks like a real tooth, so no one will notice it is not your own.
- The biocompatible solution is perfect for those who have metal allergies or sensitivities.
- Metal-free restorations maintain more of your tooth’s natural structure to improve its strength and integrity.
- Tooth-colored restorations are equally durable as metals ones, and they can last for several years before needing to be replaced if you care for them properly.
What Can I Expect?
After performing an initial consultation to assess your individual needs, we create a customized treatment plan. Depending on the type of restoration you need, your treatment process will vary.
A cavity is treated by removing the areas of damage and cleaning your tooth. A weak acid is applied to it to create a secure bond between the resin and your tooth. We select the ideal color for your filling before we dry your tooth and place the material on it. Once it is sculpted into the ideal shape, a special light is used to quickly harden it.
You will require two appointments to receive your dental crown. During your first appointment, your tooth is prepared, and we take an impression to get the exact measurements necessary for the dental lab to create your restoration with precision. It can take them a couple of weeks to ensure it meets your size, shape, and color needs, so we will need to attach a temporary crown in the meantime. After the lab sends your permanent crown to our office, you will have your final visit to have it bonded to your tooth.
